N01 Baden West junction repair, pedological building management (PBM)

The project

Place: Baden (AG)
Customer: Federal Roads Office ASTRA
Phases: Implementation and commissioning
Period: 2018
Construction costs: Approx. CHF 10,000,000

The Baden-West motorway connection was built in 1969/1970 and has not been subject to major refurbishment since that time. Extensive maintenance measures were implemented for the repair of the existing infrastructure (including various engineering structures). Two areas in the agricultural zone were developed as installation places for construction site equipment. The affected soils had to be protected using suitable means and appropriately recultivated after conclusion of the construction work.

Our services

  • Sampling and testing of soils suspected of contamination (roadside), examination of utilisation options of weakly contaminated soil
  • Coordination of construction and installation places with company owners and farmers
  • Planning and implementation of measures for physical soil protection
  • Construction site inspections for soil-related construction work (installations, soil removal, creation of deposits, etc.)
  • Coordination and monitoring of the recultivation and repair work
  • Acceptance of the recultivation with company owners and farmers,
  • Coordination of greening incl. subsequent utilisation

Challenges

  • National road project to be implemented at a local traffic hub while traffic continues
  • Temporary road widening to adjacent ground for adjusted traffic routing
  • Limited space available for local soil deposits
  • Large installation areas on agricultural soil
