We are proud to be working together with the energy officers and Green City of Zurich to have successfully implemented the innovative project "Geothermal probe fields under sports turf"!
A central element for a sustainable, fossil-free heat supply is the use of geothermal probes (EWS). When planning and implementing geothermal probe fields on sports turf areas, the balance between the energy goals and the long-term use of the sports areas as well as the preservation of the accompanying greenery is crucial.
To achieve this goal, Sandra Laubis, Head of Environment & Planning at Ecosens AG, moderated and led several workshops and meetings with a 15-member working group, supported by Andrea Bringolf, Junior Project Manager Environment & Planning / Contaminated Sites.
Together, challenges in the planning and construction of EWS systems were addressed and key factors for the ecologically sustainable implementation of new EWS systems were identified.
This collaboration resulted in a project report and a practical guide with an interactive checklist to support future planners of geothermal probe fields.
We would like to thank everyone involved for the successful collaboration and are delighted to be able to make a contribution to sustainable energy supply and turf sports!
