Soil science construction supervisors
Fertile soil is one of the most important foundations of life.
Due to the brisk construction activity and the high pressure of use, the valuable resource "fertile soil" is becoming increasingly scarce. The temporary use of agricultural land for construction projects (installation areas, construction slopes, etc.) can also lead to long-term and irreversible damage if not handled properly.
Our soil specialists carry out the necessary investigations and clarifications and derive measures to protect the soil. In many projects, a soil protection concept and soil-friendly construction supervision pay off for the customer.
Ecosens has soil science construction supervisors who are appointed by the Soil Science Society of Switzerland (BGS) and from the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) are recognized.

Soil science construction supervisors
Support construction experts during planning and on the construction site so that excavated soil can be reused. The involvement of pedological construction supervision is often prescribed by the building permit authority.

Railroad connection N01 Baden-West
The Baden West highway junction was built in 1969/70 and has not undergone any significant renovations since then. Extensive maintenance measures were carried out to repair the existing infrastructure (including various engineering structures). Two areas in the agricultural zone were converted into installation sites for the construction site facilities. Suitable measures had to be taken to protect the affected soils from damage in the best possible way and they had to be properly recultivated once the construction work was complete. more >>
N01 Lenzburg entrance
As a result of the increasing traffic figures and an accident black spot in accordance with the VSS standard, FEDRO planned a new highway entrance that would be located almost entirely in the forest area. The project is therefore associated with a major loss of forest land. By removing the existing entrance, however, additional land can be created in the agricultural zone. Conversion of Wetzikon hospital
For the renovation and expansion of the Wetzikon hospital, various small buildings were dismantled and the partially contaminated soil was removed over a large area to clear the construction site. The project thus involved large-scale earth movements and, in addition, a soil displacement procedure was prescribed due to an entry in the test perimeter for soil displacement (PBV). The area affected by the excavation pit is around 6,000 m2. A large installation and handling area was built adjacent to it. As the soil in this area was also partially chemically contaminated and mixed with foreign substances, the topsoil and subsoil were also removed from this area of around 2,500 m2. Ecosens carried out investigations and sampling of the existing soil prior to the start of construction and assessed the soil for its usability. The findings were documented in a soil protection concept together with measures for physical soil protection. As part of the soil displacement process, a soil expert accompanied the construction work. Some of the removed soil could be temporarily stored on site for later landscaping. However, another part of the removed soil had to be disposed of due to the contamination identified. more >>
Stäfa construction project
For a construction project in the municipality of Stäfa, an installation site was set up on a neighboring public property for around two years. For topographical reasons, some of the existing soil had to be removed and temporarily stored. In order to ensure that the work was carried out in a soil-friendly manner, the building permit required soil monitoring and a soil protection concept.
A soil specialist from Ecosens AG carried out pedological investigations on the affected area to determine the initial condition and took soil samples. The results of the investigations and the physical soil protection measures for soil removal, interim storage of the topsoil and subsoil and subsequent recultivation were documented in a soil protection concept. During the construction work, the BBB monitored and documented the correct execution. By calling in a soil expert, the client ensures that the work is carried out in accordance with the regulations and relieves the landowner of any liability. more >>
Rynetel wildlife transfer
For the construction of the Rynetel wildlife overpass in the municipalities of Suhr and Gränichen, forest areas were temporarily cleared on both sides of the N01 national road and installation areas were created. In addition, existing forest paths were rerouted to keep people away from the portal areas of the wildlife overpass in future. New and different types of ground areas were recultivated on the newly created cover of the national road and ecological structures and alternating wetland biotopes were created. were restored, 500 m of existing forest paths were dismantled and recultivated and 320 m of new forest paths were created. Ecosens AG's soil science construction supervision was responsible for soil protection in all phases from project planning to commissioning. A largely balanced soil balance was achieved across the entire project by recycling local forest soil (road clearance) and forest soil removed from a nearby highway construction site (Lenzburg Süd junction). more >>
